Pictured: plaques my pals and I decorated today // shelves of unfired pottery // a stack of stemless cups, two decorated and fired, two yet to be fired, all from this amazing studio that produces high quality replicas for fancy museum gift shops and academic uses that some of us went to today for a suuuper cool workshopLil (almost) beginning of the month update–I can’t believe it but I’ve got two and a half weeks of work time before E gets here and we spend about 5 days together in the city before it is time for me to leave and go back to the states. This year has absolutely flown by! My goal for the next twoish weeks is to revise/add the final bits to my Athens chapter and then send it in to my advisor before E arrives. I think it’s doable. Will def be a push but I need to do it and prove to myself that I can execute this and finalize the draft without getting lost or distracted. A bummer and a slight hindrance is that I fractured my wrist a couple of weeks ago so I’m working one handed (and with my non dominant hand) until the end of the month. It isn’t horrible but it certainly isn’t fun…Not much else to report–I’ve just been alternating between the library and the excavation storerooms and not doing much else. I think I’m ready to be back home with E and Lulu even though I’m feeling anxious about having to build a whole new routine all over again after I’ve been in such a good groove here. Transitional periods are tough for me and it will definitely be an adjustment to be back home, cohabitating with a person and a needy dog, with real life responsibilities, after being so free to just focus on work while I’ve been here in this academic bubble. I’ll figure it out though, it has to happen. -- source link
