gunpowderandgelatine:newtsoda:There has been a lot of research about autistics over the years, but this one really took the cake! This is what happened when researchers attempted to compare the moral compass of autistic and non-autistic people… Any study involving money is inherently unethical and most people involved in these studies are either college students who volunteer and are typically broke, or people who are recruited through the offer of (very minimal) compensation. They turned the outcome into a negative thing for autistic people, but they also set up a group of (likely) lower income allistic people to have to choose between morality and a small spike in (likely much needed) income for the month. Was there a control group with no money and still the choice involved? Did they account for income disparities (you know they didn’t!) That’s my only nitpick about this comic itself. The subjects who participate in these studies are usually lower income and some flavor of ND (there are always exceptions, I know), so portraying them as greedy devils doesn’t sit right. The study was garbage on both sides and undeniably biased against autistic people.(Coming from my own exprience in being an assisstant to multiple, large scale human research studies) -- source link
