Communicating Hydrocephalus In An InfantDrawn by Max Brödel in 1924. In this drawing, Brödel illustrated communicating hydrocephalus in an infant caused by tumor spread along the ventral and lateral surfaces of the brainstem. A probe is shown passing through the dilated third ventricle to demonstrate that the tumor did not produce an obstruction within the ventricular system and thus, a communicating hydrocephalus occurred. From Dr. Dandy WE: Intracranial tumors and abscesses causing communication hydrocephalus. Ann Surg 82:199–207, 1925. Original art is #696 in the Walters Collection of the Max Brödel Archives in the Department of Art as Applied to Medicine, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. -- source link
