Thanks for the tag, soracities!I’ve never really thought about my favourite albums, because I don’t ever buy music so this was a challenge.1. Stan Rogers - Fogarty’s Cove: the music of my childhood, the sound of my country, and the folk songs that my soul sings.2. Bruce Springsteen - Greatest Hits: my dad gave me his old copy of this and I knew all the songs by heart. I remember singing along full blast driving through PEI at 2 am on a road trip and the saddest part about totaling my car on the last day of said road trip was realizing I left the CD in the player when we left the car in a scrap yard in NY.3. The Antlers - Burst Apart: favourite songs being “Every Night My Teeth Are Falling Out” (one bad night I’ll hold the glass until the glass can hold me down /and one bad night I’ll spill and spill until my feet begin to drown) & “Putting the Dog to Sleep” (prove to me I’m not gonna die alone / put your arm ‘round my collarbone / and open the door).4. David Bowie - Heroes: iconic.5. Brown Bird - Salt for Salt: stumbled across this in a Southern Gothic playlist a few years ago and was swept away by the poetry of this band. Seriously - go listen to “Bilgewater” (when every day is like a war / you’ll find no strength from your usual source / … when every day’s like a war between the will to go on / and a wish that the world would spiral into the sun / turn your head toward the storm that’s surely coming along). Rest in peace, Dave.6. Ben Howard - Every Kingdom: now that he’s finally taken down his private Facebook page (as far as speakoutloudinstead, who discovered it, and I can tell) I’m free to tell you that he had his name set as “Jojo Crocker” - as if Ben Howard could get any more adorable. Also his music is a gift from God.Not going to tag anyone, because this turned into more rambling than I expected and I just did a music-related tag post. Still, if you’d like, feel free! -- source link
