indonezit:More info about her on SnopesThis is an incredible story and these women are an inspiration, but what I hate even more than the misconception that there was no active, physical resistance among Jews against Nazis is the idea that anyone who didn’t take up arms or physically fight back “went passively to their deaths.” People mistake going to incredible lengths to cling to whatever life might be left as passive acceptance of death when it’s the opposite. For the most part, people didn’t fight back, not because they were resigned, but because they knew they would be killed right away if they did and in the meantime they struggling to live just that one moment longer. To survive. And that isn’t even taking account the feats of spiritual resistance, of conducting Jewish rituals under punishment of death, of singing songs and performing plays in the camps and ghettoes, of sharing food even when one didn’t even have enough food to live on. Of remaining Jews and remaining humans. There are so many ways to resist. Human beings are never “lambs being led to the slaughter.” And it’s wrong to talk about them as such. -- source link
