classroomchaos:I had my students name their groups for the Shakespeare/Romeo and Juliet Unit and these are just a few of what they came up with. Oh, and in case you were wondering, Shakesphereans is in reference to the shape of a globe which references The Globe Theatre. Clever, huh? I was scrolling through posts on Tumblr (by the way, a great way to look at where you were then and who you are now) and I am reminded that with each school year there is a different batch of personalities. The class that did this activity with me graduated this year, The Class of 2017, and I did not know it then, but they were a genuine class. Those names that they named their groups are pretty clever. The “O.G. Wallhoppers” in recognition of Romeo jumping the wall, The “Shakesphereans” a clever play on words for Shakespeare and The Globe Theatre, “The Capagues” for Montagues/Capulets…and my favorite, “The Thumb Biters.” The 9th grade class I had this year was not interested in Shakespeare for one second. Even my collections of foam weapons did not interest them. This was the first year in my years of teaching that I struggled the most with Shakespeare and it was discouraging. It honestly was. Well, maybe next year we shall try again…maybe. -- source link
