majimemegoro:mad-potato-of-shimano:majimemegoro: anyway nishiki is SUCH a good guy and hes so full of love and enthusiasm and this scene proves it.. like we know he’s touchy and he could have reacted like “so I’m only getting my own Family so KIRYU has somewhere to go??” but instead hes. I’ll work hard, for Kiryu’s sake too. ow!nishiki deserved better. Ok youre right, and I’m about to go off about it.Something that I really got thinking about while playing through K1 was just that: kindness. Like, everything is so unkind. The world is bloody, brutal and unforgiving. Which, duh, its fuckin YAKUZA, fuckin organised crime. Alot of people are doing some real fucking heinous shit when you stop and think about it. But still, here we are, helping random strangers, feeding a dog, and holding Harukas hand. Personally, I love the contrast of the two. What does kindness look like in a world like this? The whole story of K1 in particular kinda focuses on that (intentionally or not), mainly because all the people that fail at kindness. Theres people like Shimano or Jingu in one end of the spectrum. Then theres the ones that try to be kind but ultimately don’t know how (Mostly Kashiwagi, but unpopular opinion I would also put Kazama here)There’s the ones that were kind and died for it (Shinji and Reina) And ultimately, the ones that were kind, but it broke them. Here the obvious one is Majima, and as he says when he confronts Kiryu outside Serena “You think the world gives two shits if theres a point or not? Keep that up and it’ll break you.”But also Nishiki (and don’t get me started on the parallels between the two people most closely connected to Kiryu hnng).Nishiki was kind. Too kind. Because theres no place for that kindness in their world. People like Shimano is gonna use you for it and people like Kazama is gonna fumble and pull at the cracks. Majima learned the hard way, and Nishiki did too. But even though all that, people still try. Whether its small things like getting Haruka that Bunchan from the claw machine, or just Doing Whats Right. And I fuckin love that. (I might have derailed this, but I have many feelings about the role kindness plays in K1l. I fuckin love overanalyzing and looking for metas in media) plus (always worth mentioning) there was that magazine thing that told us that most of nishiki’s yakuza work was in COMMUNITY OUTREACH. HELPING CIVILIANS. i wanted to be too lazy to track it down again but heres a link to english translation and heres link to an alternate english translation. the article is on like ‘an average day in nishikis life’ or something like that. this article & the translations are so important to me, thanks to @naiimosdraws and @gyakutengagotoku <3 <3 i call my cat ‘number one carefree and passionate guy’ on a weekly basis -- source link
