I don’t think Voldemort ever trusted Snape as much as the fandom seems to think, even after he killed Dumbledore. Bellatrix somehow knew that Snape tried to prevent Voldemort from acquiring the Philosopher’s Stone, which is something nobody else knew. Voldemort didn’t mention that in GoF. The only other people who knew where Quirrell, who was dead, Harry, who she had no contact with, Snape, who wouldn’t tell her, and Voldemort, the only plausible option, who she is very close with and says he tells her everything. It makes sense for Voldemort to share his doubts about Snape with her, which means he himself doubted him even though he might have tried to convince himself otherwise because Snape was just so valuable. He also sent Wormtail to his house, who coincidentally enough tried to spy on Snape. Would Voldemort really send Wormtail to accommodate Snape? It was always obvious to me that he was a spy. In Deathly Hallows, Voldemort stared into Snape’s eyes and seemed satisfied after he gave him the information. Obviously legilimency, and he doesn’t do it when talking to other people. At this point he had killed Dumbledore, which should have been enough to prove his loyalty, yet he chose to use legilimency on him when he gave him information about Harry. There was no trust there, just Voldemort being unwilling to let go of his (possibly) most valuable servant at that time. I think he saw it as a gamble, and when the opportunity came with the Elder Wand he easily got rid of him. -- source link
