Honestly, Draco really didn’t have a choice. I know a lot of people call bs on that, saying just because he “didn’t have a choice” doesn’t mean his racist and classist comments get swept under, which I completely agree with. But when you think into his life, he was born before Harry, meaning he was born in a time where Lord Voldemort was in his reign of power with Lucius by his side. He was already expected to be in his fathers footsteps, with him being born a pure blood, a male, and with the secured inheritance of the Malfoy house. Yes, he said some unacceptable things that color him as a horrible person, and even wishing violence and death on his peers he didn’t like. That is disgusting behavior, behavior he did to try to paint a pureblood image of himself. And as we see him being fully enamored in the dark world as he becomes an older teenager, we see him experiencing the true violence purebloods have towards the “dirty blooded.” We see him in his mental breakdown of having to complete a task given to him personally by the Dark Lord, because his father is now deemed “useless” by the Dark Lord himself. We see him in a position he obviously doesn’t want to do, but is in ties because this what he is supposed to do, this is what purebloods do, this is what all of his family does. It was basically his world, and he felt horrible in it. This is why I greatly like how he matured, avoiding putting his son in the world he grew up in, and stopping his ways from his childhood. Anyways, thank you for indulging in my rant. -- source link
