Lyall Lupin hated werewolves, yet his own surname was (oddly) Lupin, and since werewolves are shown to have wolfy names in HP I have a headcanon that Remus’s grandfather was also a werewolf (we know from Teddy Lupin that werewolves’ children do not inherit the condition) and Lyall either faced abuse from him or because of him by his peers and other people who hated werewolves, so he started hating werewolves. I also headcanon that Remus himself had daddy issues because of this, and his first name was suggested by a naming seer (Naming seers are seers some people go to in order to get name suggestions for their babies according to Rowling). On that note, I also think Bellatrix’s name was from a naming seer. -- source link
