I wish I could go back to shipping Harry and Hermione like I used to. Unfortunately the shippers have all but ruined it for me. I know not all Harmony shippers are toxic but I’ve had nothing but bad experiences. Every time I try to defend Ron I would get shut down. I’m so tired of seeing the merciless bashing of Ron and severely downplaying his importance in the books. I feel so uncomfortable whenever they try to claim he is emotionally abusive to Hermione and that he’s based off her ex husband. I never saw Harry and Hermione as having anything romantic going on in the books but I love their friendship and thought it was a good foundation to turn into something more. I just feel so out of place around the Harmony fandom even though we all love the same ship. I tried to make it work on here and discord but it’s gotten to the point where I simply can’t enjoy the ship anymore. It’s too closely associated with the toxicity I experienced and it makes me really sad. The trio’s friendship is one of the best parts about HP and I don’t like seeing Ron get so much hate even though I think Harry was ultimately a better fit for Hermione. Romione shippers aren’t much better with their extreme bashing of Hermione as a kind of revenge for all the hate Ron gets. I wish the ship wars would end because both sides have unintentionally ruined their ship through their behavior and endless bashing. -- source link
