Deep in vale country lies the hamlet of Creake. Few families live here and those that do eke out a living on the fields farming sugarbeet, wheat and peas. On fridays they trade for what they need at the market in nearby bustling Oakham. In the spring the sheep are shorn, for midsummer delicacies of eel and fresh water mussels are gathered and for the harvest fare a small competition of marrows is held. Between those times monsters are known to roam and travelers pass through selling ominous trinkets, children are whisked away by the fey and the sky threatens devastating weather. All what you would expect from a hamlet deep in the country, far from the roads of industry. In the centre of the hamlet is a flint and brick barn, infested with harvest mice and home to the occasional mistle thrush. It is the old building in town, built before all living memory. In some ways it is entirely unremarkable, in other ways it is the centre of deep folk magic, fey curses and the crisscross of leylines. This land would be known as blessed or cursed if only an elder had survived to tell its tales. Now the only signs of its past are fading talisman used as doorstops and stolen by magpies.—————————Hello everyone! For our latest set of maps, we decided to do something quite different from our usual fare. We have conceptualized and drawn up the Village of Creake - a small village with battlemaps for each of the buildings and locales - each with a number of variants across time and circumstance. Perfect to tell a number of different stories in the same location, our variants for this set each tell their own tale! You can find the full set with over 75 maps for the full set on our Patreon, which starts here!https://www.patreon.com/posts/ages-of-vale-pt-54168572 -- source link
