Amazing Year Monk-Bowl, Hand-Made, One Only, Bangkok” Thailand, 2000.One of the more amazing sights in Bangkok, Soi Ban Bat is a tiny alley where artisans in stalls make the begging bowls (”Buddha Bowls” in tourist parlance) used by Thai monks. Now the young men (women?) serving their several months as monks often use plastic bowls, but the pounded steel bowls are still made, and there is a brisk business selling those quite attractive items to tourists.
