lionessfeather: From the journal of Sylvia MontgomeryAugust 2, 10 years beforeAt Uncle Roger’s suggestion, I visited Mrs Woolworth’s Academy for Young Ladies for their position as a teacher of Natural Sciences. Afterward, he met me in the tearoom of St.-Dunstan-Upon-Stream for luncheon. We then visited the daughter of an old friend of his, Miss Ross. She is also to be a teacher at Mrs Woolworth’s Academy, and due to a disability, she is looking for another teacher to share a cottage with her. She seems to be a good person, with the most wonderful smile. I will be moving into the cottage next week. I hope we may become good friends, and, God willing, maybe something more….————————————————————From the diary of Margaret RossAugust 2, 10 years beforeI had been getting so worried, I know I cannot live in at Mrs Woolworth’s Academy, not with all the staircases to get to the staff floors, but I would not feel safe living alone either, not even with Mrs. Jones living fairly nearby.Thankfully Mr. Montgomery, Papa’s old friend, wrote and suggested I meet his daughter, Sylvia. Miss Montgomery has just today joined the staff at Mrs Woolworth’s to teach the girls Natural Sciences - she does seem terribly clever, too, very learned. She is also wonderfully beautiful and would make such an amazing painting. Her hair is an almost-black brown, which sets off her golden skin in the most glorious ways. She will move in soon. I am hopeful that we shall be firm friends. -- source link
