onlymonica: Have a seat, Miss Mary of SwedenI’m wearing a vintage girdle made by Miss Mary of Sweden (www.missmaryofsweden.com) Apparently the company has been around since the late 1950s. Too bad it’s not a few centuries older, otherwise the Vikings might have said ‘Fuck it – why sail away to inhospitable places and get scurvy when our women are wearing such amazing lingerie?’ My guess is this girdle dates from the 1960s. It’s got a zip up front, and there’s still plenty of compression in this gal. Like Volvos, Swedish shape wear is built to last. I’m also wearing genuine vintage rayon stockings from the 1940s - a real treat!I like to think this girdle had its original life in Sweden, worn by some attractive young Bon Vivant who stalked around Stockholm in her rayon stockings and this very same girdle. (Take stock of that for a minute). But, more likely, this was bought by some secretary living in Wisconsin who dreamed of stalking around Stockholm in her rayon stockings, but could only walk around Milwaukee in her cotton millinery.
