You’ll have a larger point of view than mine, who did not study that period academically (but I remember being taught about Olympe de Gouges fairly extensively in high school, though). She’s pretty inescapable these days, but that wasn’t always the case, particularly for people who went to school outside France. Either way, the common perception of her as a) a democrat and b) having been executed for being a feminist is, of course, incorrect. -- source link
