After 4 ½ years, Good Sense Farm’s fruiting body is going dormant for a bit to recharge and realign with our values. Here’s the word from Zachari about our moves beneath the surface. “It has always been my goal to build something that makes a sizeable and meaningful impact on the local food system in terms of economics, reach, and values. I believe we’ve been able to do great things and have created unprecedented demand for what we offer. If I were to answer today about our progress, I would say we are so very close to the world we want, I can smell it like an approaching rainstorm. That is why I made the decision to take some time this season to reflect and retool how Good Sense Farm is run. What that means is that we will not be attending farmers markets this year and will be instead focusing on three things: 1) Building a vibrant, cooperatively run food enterprise. 2) Hiking, swimming, eating and being our best creature. 3) Writing and creating more wild and delicious offerings for our community to share. To those hooked on Umami Spice and Wanderfood Mushroom Jerky, they will still be available online! We encourage you not to scurry away but to stick with us, join us even, in our journey. Don’t hesitate to drop a line if you want to build. Email or LinkedIn for professional chat is preferred. Our roots are in wilderness and to those roots we will return for a spell to cultivate more feral ideas…ones which cannot be tamed. I’m so grateful for the support, encouragement and COLLABORATION of everyone I have had the pleasure of working with. Too many, of course, to name. Down, down, down we go! -- source link
