#mayvinylchallenge by @jennn_erator Day 26: Highlight a Producer. My favorite producer bar none (though he prefers “engineer” or “recorded by”) is Steve Albini. He is devoted to capturing what the band and the room really sound like, in glorious analog, and no one mics a drum set like he does. I don’t own his most (in)famous production, Nirvana’s In Utero, on vinyl, but here are four of my favorites: his own band Shellac’s masterpiece 1000 Hurts, PJ Harvey’s Rid of Me, The Jesus Lizard’s Goat, and the oddball of this bunch, Joanna Newsom’s Ys.
