drstyen:theopteryx: been finding a lot of comfort lately in drawing stuff from our dnd campaign, which today means a breakdown of the royal family of valon’dai, which is the very capitalistic, technology-hoarding rival nation in the game. the fragile truce between the two countries is almost entirely because while valon’dai has the firepower, their land is largely barren of agriculture and can’t sustain itself without forlon’dai’s agriculture (and forlon’dai relies on their trade).when i planned these particular characters out a few years ago when i was building the world i knew there was a chance the players might never meet them let alone have anything to do with them, but at this point in the campaign they’ve at least seen all of them, and had run-ins (and, uhhhh, more) with both viktor (second-born, head of the powerful military force that flies on the back of roc-like birds, and has a fearsome reputation) and aleksei (third-born, bit of a lush, ambassador for the family and the only member of the royal family to visit forlon’dai in centuries, and recently discovered to potentially still be in contact with prince caliban of forlon’dai - a scandal waiting to break). it was fun too trying to make the six different kids all look related but still their own persons - apparently thin eyebrows are a recessive gene! These are so well designed! My first rection was: Uh I would like to watch whatever medium they are from. 2nd reaction after reading what they are from: woah cool. I wonder how OP feels about other people using their stuff in their own homegames… Hi OP how do you feel about that? omg, thank you so much! i’m totally thrilled you’d want to use parts of this for your homegame. that’s totally fine with me! the only thing i would ever mind would be someone reposting the art as their own work, but as far as i’m concerned anybody can borrow any piece of world-building they like (i know i do from media and other games and stories i love, all the time). i have an incomplete worldbuilding thread for our campaign over on my twitter, starting here, or we use the tag #thechoirdnd, just to try and keep it together so we can find things again later. i’m not perfect at threading stuff but there’s a bit more in there about the world and some of the characters, as well as a map of the continent itself. -- source link
