potofsoup: As a mother, Abigail would never admit that she had a favorite child, but she was secretly very glad that she could still dress Bucky up in George’s old dresses as a toddler. It saved money, and Bucky looked particularly adorable. Of course, she switched him to knickers before they sent him to school, as was proper. After the Great War, people started frowning on putting boys in dresses, but thankfully the next four were all girls, so Abigail was still able to pass the dresses on to Bucky’s sisters.Basically I saw that adorable picture of FDR in a dress, and was like “I wonder if that was still a trend by the time Bucky was born.” (Because … baby Bucky in a dress = yes please :3) And as it turned out – just barely. And if this is in keeping with my @askwsbucky headcanon, Bucky had an older brother, so passing it down from him seemed pretty natural. Plus Bucky is such a momma’s boy and dressing the boy up was a mother’s way of showing love. Plus I figure since there’s some upper class fashion associated with this in the 1880s, Bucky’s dad probably still wanted to mimic that. “A nice dress, Abigail, one that shows he’s a proper boy,” he’d say. (Hence the buttons and the belt)Oh, one more ref link(#2/10 days of fandom) -- source link
