This is a fanart of Riku based on a fanart by Sean Halnais (aka LordCavendish), whose work was my first independent experience of the genre way back in middle school. Primarily, Sean likes to mix his love of history (piracy and the Civil War, mainly) into his fanart, which sounds weird and kind of is. But as someone who struggles with feelings of self worth, particularly in relation to my art, I find Sean’s “fuck-it-I’m-just-gonna-draw-these-anime-characters-singing-a-shanty-in-period-costume-because-it-makes-me-happy” approach…refreshing, in a way.TL;DR You always deserve to draw things that make you happy and fuck the haters anyway (even if they’re just in your head). -- source link
