themightykragen:zenosanalytic:blimpcat:joyceanfartboner:okay this one part was acceptableyes i do like thisi like this a lotAnother cool part of this(because I am an un-salvageable myth-nerd u_u) is Gamzee’s face. Having the “Comedy” and “Tragedy” halves here really drives home the Dionysian facet of Rage and Gamzee’s character(just for those who don’t know -and in Supreme Summary- Greek Theater began as a religious offering or ritual dedicated to Dionysus, and the Comedy/Tragedy Mask has been a part of it, maybe not since the beginning, but for a long damn time). That he is also 1)a recovering substance abuser and 2)a religious fanatic only drives those parallels home even more powerfully. It might also provide a non-clown-based explanation for why he was/is so difficult to kill :) Dionysus is, among many other things, a male god of regenerative life in-cult, and there’s been a theory floating around since antiquity that Dionysus might be one face of Hades, the God of the Underworld. Hades wasn’t a death-god, of course, but he did have the power to let people out of his domain, or keep them there even while they were alive, if he felt either was justified. And obviously, as the eldest of the Olympians, he was a pretty dang difficult guy to put on his duff as well :pWait. Aradia had said in one of the dream bubble jams that she wasn’t sure there was a single timeline in which gamzee died. Is this the first time he actually does? The first time on-screen and, with what Aradia said in the past yeah, it’s very likely the first time he’s died in any TL to anyone’s knowledge, Mighty Kraken :) -- source link
