But you do not stand alone.” ~ Tolkien - The motto of my state is “Dum spiro spero”, “While I breathe I hope.” Hope is a precious thing that can keep a person going through the worst circumstances. But without it, even in prosperity and comfort, life can be dismal and ruinous. Sometimes hope seems to slip away despite our best efforts. At that point, you can give up, or keep resisting until hope returns. But giving up is final. Who know how things will turn if you keep resisting? Maybe a halfling who you never heard of will toss a ring into a volcano and undo all the works of your enemies. So hope!
