horizonbigbang: Frequently Asked QuestionsI’ve never participated in an event like this before. What is a Big Bang?A Big Bang is a collaborative creative effort between authors and artists. Authors will write a minimum of a 7000 word story and artists will create at least one art piece.Does my fic have to be about a ship? Can it be general? The event is not intended to be specifically geared toward shipping. You may write about a ship, or you may write about something else. It is ultimately up to you.Does my fic have to be about Aloy? Can it be about other NPCs?Absolutely! This is a fandom-wide event geared toward the series as a whole. You may write about any characters you’d like! Are AU (alternate universe) stories allowed?Yes!Can we do a mini-bang?The word count minimum will be a hard 7,000 words, something we felt struck a good balance between 5k and 10k. You may see a mini-bang occur later this year, but for now, the word count will remain a minimum of 7k. I’ve published one chapter of a fic, but nothing else. Can I use this as my entry for the Big Bang? You may not. You must use an idea that has not been published or discussed (in great detail) previously. Similarly for art, the piece must be new, and cannot be a WIP that has been repurposed to suit a written work. What kind of art can be created for fics?Art is not limited to drawings. You may create fanvids, graphics, fanmixes, or handmade items as well. There will be certain requirements for non-drawing creations, which you can find on our Rules page. As an artist, can I claim more than one story? You may, though this will occur after all artists have claimed their first fic. Big Bangs often have more authors than artists, and so your artist sign up will ask if you are willing to take on more than one story, so we know who to ask. As a writer, can I write more than one story?Due to the word count and time constraints, we do not recommend taking on more than one story. However, you can write a second, but we will not be able to guarantee that a second fic will receive art. May I post my fic in installments? No. Your story should be posted all at once, on the posting day you claim. Do I need a Tumblr/AO3 account? You do not need a tumblr, but an AO3 account will be required for posting stories. It is the easiest way to ensure all fics can be collected into one place to make sure everyone’s work is read by the fandom. Posting the fic can be done by an artist or mods on tumblr if you do not have a tumblr. If you are an artist without a tumblr, please just let us know which social media account you primarily useIs a beta required for my story? All works must be beta read and edited prior to posting at least once. Your last check-in will ask the question. You may have your own beta reader, or ask for one in the discord. The mods can also help you find one. What if I don’t finish? You can drop from the bang by contacting the mods directly through email or discord. Please be aware that dropping after you’ve received the artist claim can be frustrating for your artist. If you leave the bang without contacting a moderator, you will not be allowed to participate in the next event, should we host one. Tell me the dates! Please see our schedule post! If anything changes, you will be informed immediately. I have more questions…The askbox is open, please feel free to send a message here, or follow us on twitter @horizonbigbang. -- source link
