Gerard’s Herbal, originally published in 1594, was a mammoth book of 1700 pages. My mama had a copy in her dressing room which I happened upon as a boy and appropriated for myself. It was instrumental in my development as a botanist and was a large part of my inspiration for my Floralegium. Linnaeus later honoured Gerard with the genus name Gerardia. -- source link
