benkyogo: REVISION020: わざわざ Grammar 文法: わざわざ is an adverb, so comes before a sentence beginning with a noun or verb without any modification, however like all adverbs it must be applied to an action. わざわざ ・・・・ する Meaning 意味: Adding わざわざ to a verbal phrase means ‘to go out of ones way’ or ‘to take trouble’ to do. It is used when describing someone else’s actions, for example a favour they have done for you. See examples for clarification. Examples 例え: ケンスケとトウジは私を見送りに駅までわざわざ来てくれた。 Kensuke and Touji went out of their way to come and see me off at the station. + わざわざ modifies the verb ‘来る’to mean ‘went out of their way [to come]’. + くれた(くれる)is used to demonstrate that this was a favour (to the speaker).+ 見送り(みおくり): seeing someone off, farewell わざわざ家に来なくてもいいですよ。Don’t go out of your way to come to my home. +わざわざ can also be used in negative sentences. わざわざ modifies the verb 家に[来ない], ‘to go out of your way to [not come]’ 私が困っているとき彼はわざわざ助けてくれた。When I was in trouble, he went out of his way to help me. +わざわざmodifies ‘[助けてくれる]’, ‘go out of his way [to help]’ -- source link
