In a world where giant monsters are a fact of life, would there be toys of them? Would it be ethical to profit off of what are essentially walking natural disasters? If the profits went to charity, yeah sure. Also if they’re educational. I assume many are like Papo/Schleich dinosaur toys and get sold at craft supply stores and museum gift shops. This figure was originally created for a sort of world fair or anniversary event that the WSDF (this story’s multi-national G-Force/Science Patrol equivalent) had, given out as prizes and in gift bundles. Borodan was the obvious choice for a toy, widely accepted to be a ‘nice monster’ - benevolent and intelligent enough to coordinate with humans against other monsters (genetically engineered by Atlanteans as a mascot/minor tutelary deity) It’s made of sturdy plastic, is hollow, and moves at the head, arms, legs, and tail. Originally blue with light blue, white and yellow paint sprayed on. The tail is a separate, slightly harder material. The toy was popular enough for it to get a repaint in order to be bought from their catalogue (with all proceeds going to relief funds). It uses the same mold, but the paint application is more accurate. This is the figure they’ll reuse a lot. They eventually began using phosphorescent plastic for a glow-in-the-dark version.Eventually they created a Lazardo figure, but considering public opinion of him isn’t very good (essentially an Atlantean wet-ware performance art about personifying war), he’s normally a limited run release or sold in special two packs and thus is slightly harder to find on online shops. The four tentacles on his head can be swiveled around, and can twist at the waist, reflecting his more agile and serpentine movements. The new POWER-UP BORODAN (ᵃⁿᵈ ᴸᵃᶻᵃʳᵈᵒ) released in conjunction with the WSDF fifty year anniversary, which featured a parade through the marina district by several AGMU (Anti Giant Monster Unit) mechs.Psi-Borodan, a recolored figure created during a WSDF exhibition that was focused on their international extrasensory research and development divisions. Has a Psi-Flight Harness made to resemble tech utilized by the ESP division members. The lenses of the toy have heat sensitive material on them, allowing you to leave glowing fingerprints. The armor changes color when run under cold water (evoking the numbness many experience whilst using psychic abilities).Coming soon: Atlantean armor Borodan (ᵃⁿᵈ ᴸᵃᶻᵃʳᵈᵒ) -- source link
