A Scottish Baronial House (1907), by J.W. Waterhouse This is really an oddball in the works of Waterhouse. His signature on the canvas is the only indication that he might have actually painted it because Waterhouse did not paint any other landscapes or naturalistic works. Furthermore, the quality is so poor that I can’t help thinking that it is a fake.On the other hand, it is not inconceivable that Waterhouse was commissioned to paint one of the estates of the Henderson family. The only problem is that the painted house does not exist and has sprouted out of the imagination of the painter. The painting will probably remain an enigma forever. -- source link
