Trees can generally be described as being either resilient or resistant to snow. Resilient trees bend. Their branches droop under the weight of the snow. Their crowns dip towards the ground. But, when the snows melt the trees spring back as tall and true as before. Resistant trees stand strong and fast. Their solid trunks defy the winds and weight of snowstorms. They refuse to bow to the strength of winter. When these trees fail, they fail catastrophically with splintering trunks and chaos. -- source link
