namu-the-orca: Burning Sun Though the scorching forest fires plague the land far away, they plague the skies for many hundred miles more. The smoke-filled air drowns everything in a dreary grey glow and the sun is reduced to a burning red ball of fire. The world above the waves has never looked this strange. – The second practice piece. I like this one the least, although I love the idea. My biggest peeve is the sun’s reflection in the water. I didn’t have the patience to plan ahead, and with mistakes made I could only add more paint in an attempt to salvage it. With mixed results. Alas, such is the limitation of watercolour: once you’ve added paint you are never getting your white paper back. Maybe I’ll retry painting a similar scene some time. -- source link
