Sima is the protagonist of Fire in the Shadows, the second short story in my Tales of Kaimere series: amzn.to/2VX03OXSimasali fa-Uradao, or Sima, is the only daughter of Uradao, the Imperial Magistrate of Zardin. Although still a child, Sima will soon be a woman, and as such her father has begun to include her as a spectator in the responsibilities that will one day be her own should she go to the capitol and be trained as an imperial magistrate as well. She is confident in herself and has a rigidly-defined understanding of right and wrong. With a mother from the Imperial nobility and a father serving as magistrate of his home city-state of Zardin, Sima proudly wears a blend of the two cultures’ attire. The Chakhat Empire believe the Emperor is an avatar of the sun, and this reverence for Kaimere’s nearest star reflects in a heavy use of yellows and oranges. Before the establishment of their now-vast empire, the Chakhat were a nomadic people who lived on the backs of horses, and horses are held in great regard. Because of this, most Imperials wear at least ceremonial riding pants. Although both cultures wear head-scarves, Sima typically wears it in the fashion of the Zardi, her father’s people. She wears a necklace of Heila, the Zardi patron spirit of courage and leadership. -- source link
