“i love domijeanne so much, im SO glad they’re getting more screen time in this recent arc… a lot of the fandom say they’re the most wholesome ship, and while i adore the cuter side of it, they’re in no way healthy! and i think that makes them all the more interesting. both of them are each other’s only real friend that doesn’t have any… strings attached? (i cant think of the right term lol) jeanne’s friendship with luca, while adorable, is constantly overshadowed by the fact that she’s duty bound to protect and serve him. domi’s friendship with noé (also an adorable connection) is constantly overshadowed by the grief they both hold for louis, and how they cope with that. domi’s the first person (besides chloe, who jeanne only reconnected with recently) to ever treat jeanne as a person, with no expectations or strings pushed onto her. domi of course has conflicting inner feelings, and the current arc is likely to twist and change their relationship, but she never pushed that onto jeanne before. jeanne is one of the only people in domi’s life (and i’d say THE only) who doesn’t have any… expectations for her, she doesn’t have louis to tie domi’s existence to, she doesn’t expect domi to act in any certain way, and while she does view domi as a noblewoman, she also views her as a friend. a real, genuine friend, which no ulterior expectations on their relationship. of course, this isn’t all there is to it. both of them are extremely damaged people, and were naturally going to collide due to their natures and insecurities. it makes me incredibly invested in them. from domi’s perspective, she sort of viewed jeanne as a “pet,” another person to protect, she’s even listed as one of domi’s “favorites” by veronica who puts jeanne on the same level as NOE. but jeanne surprises her time and time again, with her stubbornness, her fierceness, her strength, and her vulnerability. jeanne views domi as a sort of paragon, thinking of her as close enough and high enough to ask for her advice, which is something i HIGHLY doubt jeanne does often. jeanne has no obligation towards domi other than societal, but domi /immediately/ sweeps that aside, saying status doesn’t matter to her. they have such a complicated relationship, and it just keeps getting more and more interesting. domi never once seemed to “hate” jeanne until jeanne fell in love with vanitas. i feel like its similar and honestly relates to to why she hates vanitas himself, because in her mind, she’s not either of her favorites’ favorite person. /vanitas/ is. with noe, she’s grown into a sense of comfort and complacency, and even if she still has a SHIT ton of insecurities regarding their relationship, she’s willing to support his connection and actions with vanitas after some convincing. with jeanne, it’s like the /one/ time she thinks she found a friend she could connect with, jeanne falls in love with /vanitas./ someone dominique views as horrible (possibly because they’re so similar). and jeanne, even after dominique /screams/ that she hates her, STILL is determined to stick around and help her, and is still careful not to hurt her. i cant imagine how heartbreaking it is, to have one of your only current friends say they /hate you/ after you just saved their life. but she /still/ wants to save dominique, because she cares for her and is so, so kind. they’re an AMAZING pair, and fit so so well together yet so so horribly at the same time. they’re not healthy, but they love each other so much. i desperately wanna see how this arc will play out, especially since i dont think domi can just shrug off misha’s influence and go back to normal right now, even if she could reject the death command. im so so excited to see how this all pans out!!“ -- source link
