This is an actual thing called “Running Code 2”. It’s the response when a call is urgent but not an emergency. For example, a burglary is in progress but no one is in imminent danger of being harmed. They run lights/sirens through intersections but are otherwise expected to drive following normal traffic laws. Ambulances do this, too.Of course, some cops abuse it.
