We got there a little early: the kids were feeding the horses, so I ended up just starting to help take horses outside. No real issues today: they also rotated horses into pastures so Quattro, Q, and Zara got to go into an actual field rather than the lower trail.I put Jaeger and Hale out in D and. They both bodychecked me into the doorframe passing by, and then went cantering off like idiots. Hale came galumphing back and. Did not stop, so I had to jump out of the way to avoid being squished.Horses.I got Quattro and brought him in. He was happy to be haltered and ready to work today. I did some cap shooting on his back, full canter and no warning, and he was perfectly fine with all of it: I was really pleased with that. Then we just. Relaxed and ran around. He was a tiny bit sore, but I think he might have a small abscess or something from the three weeks of mud and rain we’ve had.I brought Q in after and we did some easy riding. He felt pretty good. Happy to trundle and Quattro was glad to accompany us, and it’s always funny to me how well he gets along with Zara when he’s actually working. We rode them out of the arena and over to the pasture and. They were extremely happy to be on the grass, even if Q was an asshole to Zara and kept pushing her to where he wanted her to be, and Zara was just always like “okay.”I finished the day by cleaning Jaeger’s hooves out. Glad I did, because they were pretty terrible with compacted mud and gross. He was really good for me, just stood there in the field and let me work away while he ate. He’s a smart boy and a good boy and I just wish that he was doin’ a little better.But. Just gotta keep things moving and do what we can.Gotta value the time you have. -- source link
