Dazzle, by some miracle, was still alive when we got to the barn. Very… on the downswing, clearly, but I was glad I got to come and see her. Sounds like tomorrow they’ll be helping her off to rest so. You know.I don’t really like “putting it down” as a euphemism. That sounds like something you do to someone you hate. The goal is to end pain, not… you know.Anyway, I also. Worked with Quattro obviously. He wanted me to come get him, but once I tromped down through the mud he was fine with coming in.Ass horse.I wore chaps today while riding him because he hates the frilly strings on them? But he was fine up until teh canter and then he was very twitchy-bitchy. But I mean, overall a very good boy.Afterwards I spent some time grooming Dazzle, and just giving her treats and stuff. She seemed to really like it. Mashed her head against me and just spent time… quietly with me.A good girl. A good mare. She deserves to rest. She seems ready to. And we as humans have no right to keep her here any longer than we already have forced her to stick around. I think that’s one of the biggest flaws of humanity; long after we’re ready to sleep, we have all these things that force people to hang on, and we selfishly tell those people to stay here with us because we don’t want to grieve, we don’t want to let go.It’s really no wonder the world is as haunted as it is, with how determined we are to hold on even after it’s time to leave. -- source link
