I started today by actually being somewhat helpful and chasing the mares inside off the pasture, because apparently they had been forgotten about out there for too long. Then I helped get Jaeger and Hale because they snuck out the door while Teacherlady was trying to feed them.Yep.Quattro was really good, though. Okay, mostly good. He was willing to do a little jump and to mostly listen but he would stop and paw grouchily every so often because he clearly wanted to run run run, but it was a “learn stuff” day and not just a “run run run” day and that was making him a grump. But once his brain get engaged he’s really good!I also tried to roll off him but um. He’s not wide enough so I just kind of skidded off and landed on my butt. Then I tried to do a butt slide off him and he bucked me at least a foot into the air.He did actually let me slide properly off him afterwards, though, just. Had to make it clear he wasn’t happy about it first, I guess. So yeah. Not a terrible horse time. Got some work in, in spite of it not exactly feeling like the greatest work day ever.Sometimes that’s all you can hope for. Also, at the end of everything he asked for his coat on because he’s got like. Big bald patches from his summer coat starting to grow in and the temperature’s dropped again so. I’m glad I was here to do that for him, too.Little things matter. -- source link
