medievalswords:like i understand where you are coming from but the fact that it’s a beloved american institution (archie) that represents the pure american teenage ideal (which doesn’t exist) and the show corrupts it by putting the characters through increasingly absurd trials. it represents the corruption of youth and how when you’re a teen everything feels so much more extreme. they don’t “take it too far” it’s taken to an extreme height because it’s satire. the cult plotline is good just because i like it though. and it comes from the 70s fear of cults taking away our kids and recruiting them for debauchery. just like how g&g is supposed to be the satanic panic of the 80s and the black hood is the surge of serial killers in the 60s and 70s. every “insane” plotline is purposefully representative of the fears of small town america -- source link
