Sisyrinchium xerophyllum is in the iris family Iridaceae. Commonly known as scrub blue-eyed grass, it is endemic to Florida with dubious reports of this plant in Georgia and Alabama. Scrub blue-eyed grass grows in sandy well draining soils such as pine savannas and oak scrub habitats. The flowering stalks can reach up to 2 feet tall making this one of the largest Sisyrinchiums native to the Southeast United States.
