Today is International Women’s Day. So please take a moment to think of and pray for the women of Nepal, who have taken permanent residence in my heart. *top left: These radiant girls live in the Balkhu slum and were very eager to practice their English with me.top middle: Niru is a tailor and she and her daughter Nija are two of the most wonderful people I’ve ever met.top right: two young Newar girls sitting with their mothers during their Bel Biwa ceremony (marriage to the Bel fruit). This is the first of their three marriages.bottom left: A woman selling flower garlands at Kathmandu Durbar Square.center: A woman who lives in the Balkhu slum. She was very curious about me and no one knew who she was. When I went back outside to ask, she’d disappeared and I never saw her again.center right: A beggar woman with her baby on the steps of the “monkey temple”, or Swayambhunath Stupa.bottom right: A lovely girl at the slum kids’ meeting. She had such a pure, innocent face, and the most beautiful eyelashes. Photography by BrookR -- source link
