emletish-fish:royaltealovingkookiness:fkef:botherkupo:yinza:Ever since reading that Piandao also trained Zuko, I can’t help imagining him putting Zuko through the same activities as Sokka, and what that might have looked like.I love this because I actually see Zuko being gifted creatively (musically and artistically), and that would piss Sokka off to no end if he ever found out. Sokka thinks he’s a great artist, but Zuko actually is. But Zuko thinks he sucks and doesn’t like to share his creativity with people. Also, I totally see Zuko first getting interested music and art because of his mum.I also saw a post that showed zuko is left handed, he’s grabbing a southern water tribe elder woman with his left hand. That would make sense as to why he’s called “lucky to be born” because left handedness is seen as unlucky. It’s also seen as a Hallmark of creativity. This would also explain his difficulty in fire bending since all his teachers are probably either training him BACKWARDS or forcing him to use non dominant everything. I’m left handed but was still taught all sports as if I was right handed. I was a competitive, traveling bowler (even earned scholarship money) and learned right handed. I’ve only held right handed guns, knives, and scissors. I thought I was horrible at all sports but really I never had someone who looked at me and said, “oh everything is backwards for you.” Zuko’s firebending is no longer based on rage when he meets the dragons and it’s possible that they’re the FIRST teacher he’s ever had that teaches him left first. We see him lead left and aang right when they do the dragon dance.Zuko’s scar is on his left because ozai happens to be right handed like everyone else. It’s not just a reminder of his father’s brutality but another reminder of his being fundamentally different to most everyone else since only ~14% of our population is left handed. Additionally, someone else pointed out that his dao sword interest might come from having to be ambidextrous. Training his right hand to be balanced with his left. Being left-handed, I totally love the left-handed Zuko HC. I can attest how you can seem like a total imbecile trying to perform simple tasks like using a can-opener of a pair of scissors. I love left-handed Zuko HC. It just suits him so well. It definitely would’ve made bending initially a struggle because everything would have been completely backwards for him. I think if there was any kind of stigma around being left-handed in the Fire Nation, Ozai would have wanted to force Zuko to use his right hand.I think this would have been another reason why he gravitated to dual daos. He could finally use his left hand in peace. -- source link
