The visiting dentists from IsraAID’s #DentalClinicin Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya, have held training clinics emphasizing the importance of oral hygiene at IsraAID’s Child Resource Centers in Kakuma camp and Kalobeyei settlement area. Speaking to refugee parents as well as IsraAID’s community facilitators, they demonstrated techniques for brushing and flossing teeth. One permanent dental clinic with a single dental officer serves the entire 185,000+ population of Kakuma Refugee Camp. Lack of supplies and access to dental care is a major issue for Kakuma’s residents.“Oral hygiene instructions are going to be very important. The camp is getting bigger and bigger every day.”- Dr. Esmeralda Marquez from Bloom Dental, who is part of the week-long mission.Supplies for the Mobile Dental Clinic have been donated by Henry Schein, Inc..
