The Sarcophagus of Isachius (otherwise known as Isaac the Armenian) from the Basilica of San Vitale
The Sarcophagus of Isachius (otherwise known as Isaac the Armenian) from the Basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna, Italy. His sarcophagus, made in the mid-600s CE, shows the magi coming to bring gifts to the baby Jesus (who seems much older than a newborn here). Isachius was a Byzantine ruler in what remained of the Byzantine empire’s possessions in Italy who was likely killed by the Lombards a Germanic tribe that conquered much of Italy. {WHF} {HTE} {Medium} -- source link
