thefingerfuckingfemalefury: espanolbot2:annotated-dc:Catwoman #41 - Hey, It’s Onyx!Huh, this book reintroduces Onyx Adams to the DCU (most recently seen in Young Justice: Phantoms if I remember correctly, which is in another universe so it doesn’t count). I liked how everyone in this book was in agreement on how awesome she was, and how her being on good terms with the Bat Folks also carried over from the preboot DCU (she was friends with Cass Cain, for example). But yeah, more Onyx please! Also down with how she’s not utterly no time for the try-hard assassin character Valmont (who appears to have actual cannibal the Flamingo on call to dispose of his victims), who is feebly trying to win over Selina to his side, despite Selina expressing both confusing and annoyance towards him. Valmont kind of seems like the anti-Ghostmaker. Both have similar costumes, but while Ghostmaker’s efforts to outdo Batman (such as getting a bigger dinosaur than Bruce when he learns about the Batcave’s robot T-Rex and destroying his own car to design a new one from scratch when he sees Bruce’s new Batmobile is faster) are both funny and they bend around to being awesome again, Valmonts efforts just kinda make him seems like kind of a dork?Ghostmaker set out to be Batman’s Vegeta, and it’s a role he fills out well, while Valmont seems to read like someone who definitely thinks that he’s cool, puts a lot of effort into making it seem like he is, but instead comes across more like Kite-Man from the Harley Quinn show (albeit less overtly obnoxious). I like how Selina is way way more into hooking up with Onyx than Valmont here <3 Selina’s like “HELLOHOT BUTCH BUFF LADY??????MY KITTY SENSE IS PURRING” Selina has good taste ;DAlso yeah the fact that Valmont is associated with Flamingo is a huge red flag Selina: [clinging to Onyx’s bicep] valmont who? -- source link
