jbbartram: As I think I mentioned here at some point, I’m taking part in the Graven Feather Holiday Pop-up/Market (for more info on both events, click here). This embroidered moth is one of the hand-embroidered textile-based pieces available for sale at Graven Feather until December 20th (she roosts alongside my witch postcards, some original witch paintings, and my illustrated books!). About the moth: Silky GreenSericeus viridis A day-flying moth, the Silky Green’s intricate wing patterns and delicate, fluttering flight makes it a favourite sighting for many North American Lepidopterists and amateur naturalists. Silky Greens feed mainly on daylilies and foxgloves and are often happy to alight upon an outstretched hand for a quick rest. Making the moth: The Silky Green moth’s body is made from fur pieces salvaged from the scraps bin at a fabric store, hot glue, wire and feathers. The wings are hand-embroidered and took the first three seasons of the TV show Fringe to complete. -- source link
