“MOBILIS IN MOBILI”As @Libroantiguo says “moving in a moving thing.” Mobilis, mobile, a nice third declension adjective can also be translated “quick” or “agile.” The name of the Nautilus itself is from the Greek ναυτίλος, “sailor”, which is borrowed into Latin. And of course Captain Nemo’s name is an allusion to Odysseus. When trapped by the cyclops Polyphemus in Book 9 of the Odyssey, the hero lies and says his name is “Nobody” when the monster asks. Odysseus of course uses the Greek οὔτις, but this is translated into Latin as Nemo. Thanks to Bibliophilia for sharing this bit of found Latin via Twitter. -- source link
