Only “quid agis,” “what are you doing” might have been better. “Quo vadis” derives from the story of Peter leaving Rome only to be stopped by the appearance of Christ asking him, “quo vadis?”. Peter then returns to Rome. There’s a 1951 film of this same title, based on Sienkiewicz’ late 19th century novel Quo Vadis: A Narrative of the Time of Nero, which stars Peter Ustinov as a wonderful Nero. -- source link
