The Chinese Type 6 Police Revolver,In 2006 the Chinese government decided to start arming secondary officers within the police force. This includes traffic police, municipal police, building inspectors, clerks, and other law enforcement personnel that were traditionally unarmed. The reasoning was that a new type of pistol was needed for those who are less like to be involved in a hostile situation. While not as heavily trained in lethal force as say a national police officer or soldier, the Chinese police want secondary officers to at least be trained to hold their own and defend themselves in a bad situation. Furthermore, the Chinese wanted something that was simple and easy to use for personnel who may not have much firearms experience. In the end Chinese police decided upon a revolver, as a revolver is reliable and robust, but simple and easy to use. A double action revolver, which does not require the user to cock the hammer before firing, the Type 6 fires a small rimmed 9mm cartridge similar to the old .38 S&W. Ammunition comes in two variants, full metal jacket and less than lethal rubber rounds. Though underpowered and anemic compared to other law enforcement calibers, it has very little recoil, making it easier to fire. Furthermore it is very easy to load with its traditional swing out cylinder which holds 6 rounds. Unlike many revolvers, the Type 6 does have a safety lever located behind the cylinder.Overall the Type 6 is a good light shooting revolver which is simple and easy to use, the perfect type of firearm (in my opinion) for new and less experienced shooters. -- source link
