end0skeletal: In 2009, an iron-rich dust storm 300 miles wide and 600 miles long moved across Australia, bathing Sydney in an eerie red hue. Lasting three days, the storm was the worst in the state of New South Wales in nearly 70 years. I remember this, I woke up around 7am and thought jeez the sun is super red this morning?? Then we opened the blinds and were like whoaaa wtf is going on??? When we left the house for work we were like !! Had to wear scarves and such for the 20 min walk to the studio. The dust pretty much settled around mid afternoon (that says 3 days but it was only dark like this in the early morning to early afternoon), but still everything was red and covered. I can’t remember how long it took for the dust to wash away, but we were finding red dust in the cracks of everything for the rest of the time we were in Sydney… -- source link
