“Fragment with Bird” A circular piece of glass decorated with a dove spreading its wings. The bottom of a drinking vessel. A punty mark is present in the center. Created with blown glass and brown enamel. The glass is tinted green. Made in the 10th century in Egypt. During the Islamic period, and typical of Coptic dove iconography. Collected by Ray Winfield Smith, chairman for the International Committee on Ancient Glass, and purchased by the Corning Museum of Glass in 1955. -- source link
