rhamphotheca:Florida’s OTHER Blue CrabIt’s blue, and it’s a crab, but it’s not your typical blue crab! What is it? It’s Florida’s largest semi-terrestrial crab, the blue land crab (Cardisoma guanhumi). Adult shells span about 6 inches and they are found mainly in south Florida within 5 miles of the beach. These crabs are harvested recreationally and commercially, and aren’t eaten stateside nearly as much as they are in the Caribbean.
